The ODSFOOD tool is now ready to be used by food companies that want to advance in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in order to improve their competitiveness.
This digital platform provides the opportunity to perform a simple self-diagnosis that allows the company to know its situation regarding the integration of the SDGs in its strategy, as well as its priority areas of action and the progress it is making in the process. The tool, developed by BASQUE FOOD CLUSTER within the framework of the ODSFOOD project -with funding from the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa-, has been co-designed and tested by companies in the food value chain in the Basque Country.
Access ODSFOOD and start your diagnosis in SDG
The first step is to fill out a questionnaire based on international standards and tested with all types of Basque food companies, both SMEs and large companies. Once completed, a report is automatically received detailing the company’s situation and the SDGs on which its activity has the greatest impact, and on which it will have to focus its efforts. As the process is repeated, a history of reports is generated, allowing the company to establish six-monthly or annual control milestones, re-diagnose and see how the company has evolved over time.
In order to make the tool useful and easy to understand for the sector as a whole, a steering group made up of food companies of different activities and sizes collaborated in its design. This group was made up of Ameztoi Anaiak, Brioche Pasquier Recondo, Dastatzen Group, Elmubas, Euskaber, Mala Gissona and Xumuxua. Likewise, the project has counted with the collaboration of Askora, Okin, Udapa and Uvesco as advanced companies in sustainability matters to advise the tractor group, and with the contribution of Sinnple, a socio-environmental impact consultancy.
In addition to information on the situation of each company with respect to the SDGs, this project aims to obtain a sectoral diagnosis, which will lead to the identification of common and specific lines of action in the Basque food sector. An approach that is considered essential to practically and efficiently convey the sector’s contribution to the objectives of the 2030 Agenda.
The ODSFOOD project is part of the Program of the Department of Economic Promotion, Tourism and Rural Environment of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa to promote the generation of opportunities, differential value and sustainability of the business fabric of Gipuzkoa.
